For those who don't already know, PBS has a great show called California Connected (http://www.californiaconnected.org), which began in 2002, & which has lately been focusing on our state prison system.  It airs throughout the state at 10pm Thursday, with re-runs the following weekend (Go to http://www.californiaconnected.org/airtimes.html for re-run times, as well as radio air times.)
 
On the home page, you can read the transcript of a recent show on prisons.  By submitting your name & email address, you can receive their e-newsletter.  And by clicking on "about this show" at the top, you can read about how to submit a story idea (scroll down to #5).  I'm thinking that if a number of us write to them about doing shows on various issues within our prisons (e.g., general abuse, medical neglect & abuse, removal of visiting days & lunches, reinstating Family Visits for Lifers, parole issues, 3 Strikes, etc.), from OUR point of view for a change, maybe they'll do some shows about it.  Can't hurt to try!
